BlackBerry's current CEO, Peter Franklin, has announced that the company's new 5G smartphone will be released later this year. The upcoming Blackberry 5g smartphone will be built by OnwrdMobility.
While no official specifications or a release date have been released, CEO Peter Franklin claims that the latest BlackBerry 5G smartphone will feature the classic signature physical keyboard. These 5G phones will also have improved security features as well as all of the latest features. OnwardMobility is currently working on the device with Foxconn, a Taiwanese multinational electronics company. A few years ago, Blackberry teamed with TCL to release a number of smartphones, but they were not well received. BlackBerry and TCL's deal expired at the start of 2020 due to continuous losses. OnwardMobility has taken over and is now producing new smartphones for the company.
It will be fascinating to see how BlackBerry introduces the latest 5G smartphone into a market already dominated by Samsung and Apple. There is still a loyal BlackBerry fanbase around the world, so if the price and output are up to the mark like the classic BlackBerry, it might be easy for BlackBerry to make more profit.
